Description
Metabolic bone disease affects all age groups and if left untreated can cause significant morbidity. The purpose of this webinar is to familiarize the attendees with the diagnostic techniques, differential diagnosis and available treatment options. The webinar emphasizes the importance of instituting aggressive treatment of the most common metabolic bone disease, osteoporosis, especially before the consideration of surgery.
The overall goal is to educate all spine specialists in the recognition and institution of treatment prior to the development of a pathological fracture or prior to elective surgical treatment to avoid the postoperative complications of poor bone quality.
